Charles Penzone is President and Founder of Charles Penzone, Inc. (CPI), an Ohio-based Family of Salons and Day Spas established in 1969. The company includes four Grand Salons located in the Columbus areas of Dublin, Gahanna, Polaris Parkway and Wedgewood, MAX The Salon in German Village, MAX The Salon in Short North, Q Salon & Day in northwest Columbus, and The Studio by Charles Penzone, located in Gahanna. The Penzone companies employ more than 650 employees.
Charles is a member of The Salon Association (TSA), a member of Intercoiffure America-Canada, and a board member of the International SalonSpa Business Network. He was named one of the Top Twenty Salon Owners in the United States by Modern Salon Magazine as well as one of the Most Intriguing Salon Owners by Salon Today Magazine. The Grand Salons in Dublin (1991), Gahanna/New Albany (1996), and Polaris Parkway (2003) were each named Salon of the Year by Modern Salon Magazine. Most recently the Charles Penzone Family of Salons was named one of America’s Top 20 Salons and Spa 2006 by Beauty LaunchPad Magazine. The Charles Penzone Grand Salons have been named Best Spa in Columbus by Columbus Monthly magazine for five consecutive years and has been named the Consumers’ Choice award winner for nine years.
In addition to managing The Charles Penzone Family of Salons and Day Spas, a product distribution company, a consulting company, and a real estate management company, Charles served as Chairman of The Ohio State Board of Cosmetology and currently serves as a member. Also in 1999, he was named Master Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young and was a finalist for the Chamber of Commerce “Small Business Person of the Year”.
Charles is currently a member of the Entrepreneurial Leaders Society at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, and in 2003, he was invited to join the Board of Directors for Recreation Unlimited Foundation.
Charles Penzone, Inc. is a family owned and managed business. Charles is married to Debra Penzone, CPI Vice President currently focusing on Professional Development. His two children, Chelsea and Colby, are both Board of Director members and active managers of CPI. Chelsea is the Director of Marketing and Colby consults, while working in Boston as the Vice President of Marketing at Fidelity.
